Summer of 1996

Stainmeister

This video might take you some time to download. It's a two-minute comedy short that I made with my friend Bradley Greer, sometime in 1996 or so. Brad also stars in the piece. In fact, he is the only actor in it. Every person you see on the screen... is Bradley. This was my first forray into motion control, where a computerized motor controls the camera movement, allowing you to make multiple passes that can be pieced together into a seamless whole.

It took me a month to figure out how to shoot the effects I wanted, and it took another month of weekends for Brad and I to shoot it (we were the only crew members, except for one day where some friends of mine, Gaby and Sandrine, stopped by to give us a hand).

The video is in MPEG format, and is about 5MB big. Use any MPEG player. Quicktime 4.0 or later should work if you are not sure what to use. I've only played this back on a Mac, so if any PC users have problems, please let me know.

Note: I just received a few emails from people who were not able to view the movie with a plugin. If that is the case, click here to download a zipped version of the movie directly to your computer.

Enjoy!
